Hey everyone,
I hope this post finds you in both good health and spirits! I created this blog so that all of you back home can keep up with my travels this spring/summer in the United Arab Emirates. Ideally, I'd be telling you now about how frequently I'll post, however I'm not promising anything; though I'll do my best and try to post pictures as well. I will post the link on facebook and twitter when a new blog is up, so then you can see it and go from there.
First, a little background on what exactly I'm doing. I am the recipient of a William Clinton Scholarship, which means I'll be studying at the American University in Dubai for the next two months. I'll be studying Middle Eastern politics and economics, and will be taking a summer's load of nine credits in this academic session. In addition, I am looking to gain significant ground in becoming fluent in the Arabic language. I've taken it for the past year and a half in school, and am now looking to pick up the local dialect. I should have enough free time to explore the city of Dubai, and hopefully even more free time to share the experience with all of you.
Currently, I'm in the midst of packing- you never know just how much stuff you really have until you take it out and move it multiple times. In the past week I've had to move all of my clothing and personal items back and forth quite a bit. Sadly, I can only be home in Pennsylvania for a grand total of two days before I have to leave. It has been a long time since I've seen many of you, please forgive me for I'm not the best at keeping up with people! It has been a busy two years at school, but I will be back at the start of July, and I hope to see and catch up with all of you then.
Well, I hope you return to this site to share in my experience- traveling loses much of its magic if you cannot share it with others!
